8mm Mauser G33/40, 945

I'm new to this board. I have two 8mm german Mausers,one of which is a G33/40, 945, 1940, with Waffens. Neither guns were confiscated by Russia. All marking are constistant all the way through. All original. The gun is in very good condition, with sling and side butt plate on butt of gun. The firing pin tool on the stock has been filled in. That is the only change. I am not interested in selling this weapon but I would like some information and perhaps an estimate of price. I will try to post a picture if anyone is interested.

    Best if you could post quality photos. Sight unseen, it appears strange that somebody in the past would try to "plug" the bolt takedown hole in the stock, with out bubbaing other things on the rifle also. Only close-up photos will answer that question.

    Thank you for responding. My deceased uncles sent these weapons back from Europe. My father put them back together. I'm not sure why that was done, I never asked him. However, the hood over the front sight amd cleaning rod are missing.

    I will try to take some pictures and post them.

    I also have a 945 coded 1940 G33. My rifle has the two piece
    buttstock which is not that rare in first year production. These rifles had the code changed in 1941 to "dot" and production was discontinued in 1942 when the Czechs started producing the K98k for the Wehrmacht.

    Original G33/40's are rare since gunsmiths liked the small ring Mauser action with the lightening cuts. They made handy lightweight sporters hence their rarity today. Yours could probably be restored if all is wrong is missing the buttstock washer.

    Prior to the war, these were called the Vz33.

    What do you mean by small ring action with lightning cuts? I will say that this action is very smooth in comparison to my other Mauser.

    The receiver ring is smaller than on a K98 and the metal is machined out along the receiver on the right side to lighten it for the Mountain Troops who carried them.

    THe 945 is slightly the rarer of the 2 marker codes for the 33/40. If you have the proper hollowed out bolt knob and it is all matching, even without the rod or hood I'd wager $1200-$1500. A plugged take down disc is easily enough drilled back out. Certainly $1000 at least but that's just going from your description.

    Now if not all matching and with a 98k bolt, maybe $800 give or take $150.
