My MP15 is shooting WAY low

I recently purchased an S&W MP15. The rifle came without sights, so I ordered an AR-15 Leapers UTG Tactical Flip Up Rear Sight and a AR-15 Tactical Flip Up Front Sight Quick Detachable Adjustab A2 Square Post.

I went out and tried to sight it in today and at 25-yds was putting rounds under the target by 15 inches with the elevation on the front site turned all the way up. I have both the front and rear sights mounted correctly as far as I can tell (doesn't seem complicated), so I'm looking for any suggestions on how to fix the problem.

    Well my first thought is cheep sights give cheep results.

    My second thought is where do you have them mounted? I dont have a direct answer to this but I am guessing that if you have them mounted on say a hand guard in a different spot then where the gas block is then that could throw you off.



    EDIT: It was late when I wrote this. The adjustment help is correct.

    Turn the front sight down, the point of impact will go up.

    swearengine +1 has the key with iron sights you move the rear sight in the direction you want the grop to go but the front sight you move in the OPPOSITE direction. end of story.

    There are two diferent sizes of flip up front sight. The tall one is made to be bolted onto a railed gas block, there is also a shorter version to be used on "Monolithic" style railed rifle hand guards..

    If I where you I'd stay away from the UGT stuff and all the other cheapys, look into midwest industries or yankee hill manufactureing for a good set of flip up irons.. You should be able to get a good set for less then $160.00 from either company, if you shop around.

    Cheap stuff will end up costing you more because it breaks or just doesnt work..

    Take what the two post said about adjusting your front sight down...that will cure your problems if there is enough adjustment. If not adjust your rear sight up a little.

    All,

    Thanks for the input so far.

    The front site is mounted on the gas-block and I tried the front post adjusted to both extremes (all the way up and down) without positive results.

    I am considering filing down the front site pin to see if I can get the shots at least on the paper and will look to replace them with better ones. I want to put an eotech site on it, so I wasn't super concerned about the irons....live and learn.

    At what range?? At very short range(25 yards) the AR may hit low simply due to the height of the sights above the barrel. Setting the sights to hit POA at short range will result in a very high strike at 100 yards.
