how to remove paint from firearm?

hello
purchased a parts gun off of here and it is in better shape then i expected it to be in. someone painted it black so what is the best way to remove this as there is no pits in the barrel and the blueing is not that bad under the paint probably 80 to 85 percent but starting to turn brownish. i think someone thought that the blueing was not blue and it looked a little brownish they thought it was rust. took it out last night after a cleaning and full disassembily it functioned fine and really quite compared to some of my other 22lr. what would be the best product or solution for removing the paint they did get some on the stock as they did not even take it out of the stock when they painted it.

    Paint thinner/mineral spirits.

    Try accetone, or MEK.

    Grinding wheel and a sand blaster!!!! LOL. I would try a small spot with clear pvc primer and see what that does. I have tried it once and it worked without taking off the bluing. Try a small spot first and see what happens.Paint thinner might work also.

    Unless its some special paint, Brake Fluid will do wonders. Correct me if I'm wrong but use Dot 3. Some of the newer stuff is not as good for this application.

    Airplane stripper, you can buy it at autozone. I used to use it to take paint and clear coat off of rims. The stuff works amazing. All you will need is some wire mesh or wire brush.

    I bought a Smith & Wesson M&P, 4th change (I think), 38 spl revolver that someone had spray painted black. Hosed it down with Foaming Citris Strip over night for a couple nights. Used a couple wooden tooth picks to scratch off anything that didn't come off. Finish underneath was worn but looked pretty good.
