Class III legal question

Do any special BATFE 'inspection' privileges come along with owning a Class III?

I've never owned one, but heard a guy explaining that he was considering a Class III firearm until he learned that the BATFE can enter your premises for an inspection of your firearm(s) without a warrant.

Any truth to this?

    Not true.
    If you are a private citizen like me,
    They can only ask to see your form 4s.
    They have to have a warrant or your permission to enter and inspect.

    A clas 3 DEALER can be inspected at any time without a warrant.

    Interestingly enough, even local LEOs and FBI can't ask to see your forms.
    They are priveleged Tax info and only BATFE or IRS agebts can legally ask to see my forms.

    Sorry, but you're going to have to explain what you mean by your "form 4's". Like I said, I've never messed with private ownership of full-auto stuff.

    As a secondary question, what's the deal with corporate ownership of Class III's as opposed to them being licensed to an individual? I've heard this mentioned as having certain advantages, but haven't heard it explained.

    Any links you have to the BATFE regs that cover their rights to inspection of Class III items would be appreciated. The fella I was speaking with said someone had shown him 'the law on this', so I'd like to direct him to the correct info.

    Thanks 11br. It seems to be coming up more so I thought I would do a "basics" course. There are whole websites dedicated to NFA stuff, more then I could bust out in a readable sticky.
