Colt Sporter II AR

On this model of Colts AR-15, does the bbl taper toward the rear, or is it HBAR all the way back?

  If you have the gun pop off one of the handguards and take a look. My guess is that it tapers toward the rear.
  
  I have a Colt with a heavy barrel and its marked HBAR in the name.

  I could have sworn mine was a pencil barrel, skinny all the way.

  Too many variations from Colt.
  
  You need to give us the exact name of your rifle from the box label, or as stamped on the lower receiver.
  
  If, however, you have an AR-15A2 Sporter II Model 6500, then your barrel is in "A2 configuration".

  AR-15A2 Sporter II's (Model R6500) came with a standard 20 in. A1 profile/twist rate barrel. You can expect it to be stamped 1/12 along the barrel.
