30-06 AP

I have a box of 30-06 that says:
20 cartridges
AP
caliber .30 M2
ammunition lot S.L. 9487
ST. Louis ordnance plant

So is this really AP ammo? The box is still sealed so i don't want to open it to see if its black tipped.

  Yep, that sounds like the real thing. I've shot a lot of it over the years; it's almost as accurate as USGI NM ammo.
  
  It's been common for years, but, like most USGI .30-06, it's gotten scarce. You would have no problem getting $1/round.
