Smith & Wesson model # Help??

I inherited a 22 LR caliber Smith & Wesson from an Uncle who passed away. It has a 4" barrel The Serial number on the base of the grip is K 2307XX. The same serial number is on the back of the cylinder.
When I flip the cylinder open under the barrel there is another set of numbers 70775. Under that set of numbers is the number 4. What model is this? I looked at some of the revolvers that are for sale on this site and it looks somewhat like a model 18, but not sure. It must have been made before 1957 correct[?]

    Your gun is the pre-model 18. It was called the K-22 Combat Masterpiece.

    According to ser# provided, yours was made in the latter part of 1954.

    The 70775 number is an assembly # used to match the frame & it's parts during manufacturing.

    I knew he purchased it prior to 1957. Just was not sure about the model number.

    This is not a "kit gun". The kit guns were the model 34 and its pre-numeric model number guns, made on the j-frame. K-22 is a K frame.

    ADDED:

    The "kit gun" nomenclature came about by the gun being smallish...easy to pack in a kit for survival, or an extended outing. They were built on the J-Frame, the smallest of the S&W lettered framed revolvers. The K-Frame, or the next size up was responsible for the pre model number series K-22 Masterpiece, K-32 Masterpiece, and the K-38 Masterpiece. Those made in the 4 inch barrel configuration were referred to as the Combat Masterpiece. The K-Frame later on became the base for the Model 19, and it's stainless steel brothern, the Model 66 357 Magnum revolvers....and many others.

    So yes...yours is a Masterpiece.

    So, This is not a K-22 Combat Masterpiece? Or is it a Masterpiece and just not a Kit gun[?] Now I'm confused, but that's nothing new for me to be confused. Could it still be a model 34[?]

    A model 34 (or if before 1957 a .22-32 Kit Gun) would be smaller and would not have a K serial number prefix.

    A K frame 4" .22 is, as said, a Combat Masterpiece .22. At least that is what the one in the next room is.
