Cobra .380

Has anyone had any experience/thoughts about the Cobra Freedom P-380 regarding reliability, quality, performance?

    A friend of mine was going to buy a Cobra .380 because thats all he could find in .380. I am trying to talk him out of it because its just a cheap made gun to me. What are your opinions. Thanks

    Terrible guns.

    If he wants a gun that will work he should look at the Bersa Thunder 380 or the Firestorm 380.


    Cobras are cheap. and I mean cheap and not inexpensive. The Bersas are good little guns modeled on the Walther PP, but with updates that make for a good gun.

    +1 on the Bersa. Good guns at a great price.

    Another alternative would be a Makrov - little more power than a 380, relatively cheap surplus ammo available for plinking, and some good defense ammo is available too.

    You told your buddy the truth! The Cobra is junk. Your buddy needs to consider the Kel-Tec .380. The smallest .380 made, and a winner over the Ruger LCP in most all test. Kahr and Seecamp both make top of the line .380's, that is if your buddy can afford the best.

    Friends don't let friends buy Cobra .380s!

    There are a gazillion available guns in .380, in different sizes and weights:

    IMO the "best" gun in that caliber is the Sig P232, but they don't come cheap. If you like a 1911-like design (instead of one similar to the Walther) the Colt Mustangs are extremely good, but also NOT cheap!

    For a low COST gun, the Bersa is probably the best.

    For the lightest/most PORTABLE gun, the best is the Kel-Tec 3-AT or the Ruger LCP, which is essentially a Kel-Tec knockoff.

    I have to ask, why is your friend wedded to the .380?

    Nowadays there are 9mm luger guns nearly as small, and its a far better (plus usually more readily available, and often cheaper) round.

    Comparing, the snubnose .38 revolvers are usually similarly sized to the PPK-like .380s, but are easier to use, more powerful and more reliable.

    To me a .380 pretty much makes sense only as a "pocket" gun that you can always have on you. If that's the gun your friend wants, I suggest the Kel Tec or Ruger.

    they stink my youngest girl has one ,do not ever dry fire the firing pin does not reset and will not feed a shell from the clip if firing pin does not reset.it scares me if the fireing pin coulld let go from
    a sharp blow,you can guess what will happem.
