Shipping Primers?

Has anybody had any experience here? Its next to impossible to find a carrier to handle these shipments. The Feds have a strangle hold on the regulations. However live ammunition seems to be no problem.
I'd like to hear of other attempts to ship this deadly cargo!

    It seems like nobody wants to ship primers, even under hazardous material. How do you guys ship your primers?

    Through a common carrier, i.e. UPS, FedEx. Declaring them as hazardous material. Then jumping through all the hoops, that entails. The way things are nowadays, you definitely don't want to be caught, shipping them any other way, i.e. USPS.

    Yesterday was my first experience with shipping these materials. I had already sold 4 boxes of ,240 WBY. ammo, and the dies on GB to a buyer in GA. (I'm in OR.). I charged him $10 for shipping. I had already boxed, taped, and labeled the box, and attached a ORM-D label. At the UPS main store the mgr. opened the box, looked at everything, said it was not packed correctly, and started to repack it in a larger box, saying newspaper was not an acceptable material, and 2" min. space is required on all 6 sides. He was very helpful during all of this. When he was done packing, he added up all of the fees, and charged me $41.00. There was no HAZ-MAT fee. Lesson learned, it's probably not worth the cost to ship such items any longer. And unless you like prison food, don't try to circumvent the law. I also believe that most of these restrictions come from the US DOT. Good Luck HAWKSHAW

    Ammo and primers do not ship the same. Ammo or primed brass ships as ORM-D and requires NO extra or HAZMAT charge.

    Primers or powder (along with lots of other items) require HAZMAT shipping with extra paperwork and charges.

    you got screwed. I ship ammo all the time from a ups depot. The regs says 2 or more inches of foam, bubble etc but with common ammo that can't be damaged paper is fine. They never open my boxes but if you went to a ups store they are not even supposed to take ammo
