grinding,sanding polymer stocks

I got an Excel MP 22.Its a 22 magnum semi -auto handgun with polymer frame.The grip is a little big for my hand.Can I use a Dremel or grinder to shape it then sand smooth and finish or paint?Thanks

  Yes you can sand and paint the grip. Most are made of polycarbonate or Nylon, so they are very compatible with most spray paints made for plastics. However, a few notes:
  
  1. LOW speed sand. A wheel or dremel can melt the plastic and create a mess.
  
  2. If working on the frame/grip type gun (like a Glock)you will ruin any resale value. Not a big issue if this gun is only for you and you never intend to sell it.
  
  3. IF this is a plastic grip only, be aware of if its made of rubber, because the above will not work on a rubber grip.
