Got a older Sako AV in 375 H&H, does anyone if it is possible to get quick detach rings that will fit the dovetail?
If I put a base I won't be able to utilize my open sights if needed.

Can't help you with the year, but unless it's been damaged somehow it's a top level rifle. Excellent (and adjustable) trigger, known for their accuracy and fine craftsmanship. 0 -

I have a Sako AV from a similar vintage, in the late 1980s. It is a 25-06, lefthand, with a non-deluxe stock, but two crossbolts.
The triggers on these are very good, and adjustable. I believe that Sako puts in a better trigger than nearly anyone, unless you go for the high end custom rifles.
This rifle has a very fine action and extractor. You have a very fine rifle, in an excellent cartridge, and it should shoot in the 1.0 MOA range with the right ammo.0 -
Thanks for the info. Can't wait till I get it. I traded a Franchi O/U 28 ga. that I thought I needed for it. I'm much more of a rifleman than a shotgunner. I recall looking at a Sako once in a Rod and Gun club when i was stationed in Germany. We could buy guns at less than half price of what they sold for in the U.S because there was no import taxes on them. I could only bring home so many. I brought home a match set of Winchester 101 pigeon grades, a 12 guage trap and a 20 guage skeet for less than a thousand dollars for both. If I remember, the Sako's I looked at were not the deluxe's, but were about $400. Like I said, I could only bring home so many, but on $350 a month, I had the 101's on layaway for quite a while before I actually got to store them in the unit's arms room until I went home. That was several years ago, 30 years ago to be exact. 0
