I have an opportunity to take in trade a Norinco SKS (folding stock)that the owner claims is a pre ban type. I have read the previous topics in the forum which regard there not being a ban on this particular firearm. I am not very knowledgeable in SKS's as far as what a milled receiver looks like compaired to another. Could someone please clarify that description? Would that be one that accepts AK mags? Or would it still take SKS mags?

  I just received a 7.62 x 39 with spike bayonet, serial number 22001118.

  its a commercial grade chinese sporting type, unissued sks.[^]

  Known as the "Paratrooper". Though they were never issued to Chinese jumpers. The rifle in the picture has a sporter stock instead of the standard military type. Good rifles for what they are.

  manufactured for ak mags verses the fixed 10 rounder is a nice feature.

  Thanks for the replies. I just got this firearm yesterday and when looking at it earlier, I noticed it has an "M" next to SKS. So, on the left hand side above the receiver reads: NORINCO SKS M.
  
  Does the M mean anything?

  Norinco made two models that took AK magazines, yours is the "M" as is marked. The "D" model is more uncommon and worth more money. It is a standard full length military configuration SKS, ( some also had folding bayonet ).
