S&W 629-4 Grips

About 4 years ago I purchased a S&W 629-4 used. It has a 6" barrel, it's stainless and has "Houge" logo rubber grips that look just like the S&W logo ones except for the logo itself. My question is: Could these Houge logo grips be original? Thanks!

  It's unlikely.
  
  If you have the product code from the box label, that might help us pin it down.

  Yes, they probably are original. Smith uses Hogue grips on many of their handguns. Most of their stainless "N" frame revolvers leave the factory with Hogue grips.
  
  I have a 4" 629 that came with Hogue rubber grips. They convert the round frame to a square frame configuration.

  That must be going around. I just checked one of my Smith's & found it came with Pachmayr rubber grips.
  
  So, I guess the correct answer is, "Anything is possible."

  Per The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 3rd edition:
  
  629-4 (1993) Change rear sight leaf, drill & tap frame, change extractor, Hogue grips introduced.
  
  Evidently they were factory issue at least for some. To be positive about your particular gun, a factory letter would be in order.
