where are all the rifle primers go?

i live in arizona and i visited in the past week plenty of local gunshops, cabelas, bass pro shops, and sportsman warehouse to find some lousy small caliber rifle primers to load up some .223 rounds....and guess what I found....NONE!....I question wether its worth it or not to mail order them and pay the additional handeling fee on top of shipping. where did they all go? some one told me that pistol primmers work in a pinch...or is that to risky too risky to be worth it?

  The metal used in pistol primers is thinner then rifle primers. Because this could cause except escape of gas into the mechanism because of a blown primer, the use of pistol primers in rifles isn't prudent.

  r-s is correct on the sub no-no. Good luck finding them online, I have been looking for months. It is wotth the haz-mat and shipping if you are ordering a large qty of powder/primers.

  Try the gun show, I went to the local show and the ammo table was mobbed, the prices were high and people were carriing a lot of ammo out to the parking lot.

  You can use pistol primers with light loads- but not with a full tilt rifle load.

  I was told the reason rifle primers are scarce is because the big companies-Remington and Winchester-are buying them all to try and keep up with ammo demands. .223 ammo is being ordered in unbelievable quanities right now, thanks to Barack HUSSEIN Obama, our leader (God help us). People are very scared of him. For good reason.

  I use small magnum pistol primers in my HORNET loads, but would agree with R-S that anything operating above those kind of pressures is something approaching a recipe for disaster.

  now why would the company that makes them be buying them????it is simple the ammo plants are running full tilt + for war production(priority)and the rest of us that have the democrat hebie jebies..all the surpluse production is being sucked in to the vacuum of super demand[V]
