Model 63 Winchester
An elderly friend of mine has two rifles he would like to sell, I told him I would help. This is one of them, a Model 63 Winchester from 1938. I told him it would be worth around $1000 to $1300, does this sound about right?

I have a 63 that was mfg in 1958 that has checkered stock and forearm. I have looked for others like mine and I have only found one and it was factory engraved. Mine is not engraved but is checkered. Is it worth more or less?

Nice looking rifle however I feel you are on the high end as to it's value. I think you would be better served to give not a low-ball price but also not an inflated price in the future. I have sold a number of estates from friends that have passed . It is always harder mentally on the person selling to come down on price from a inflated expectation. 0 -
there is one about the same condition at the local shop, has been on the rack for a couple months for 700 0 -
check the auction side,I bought one in a little better bluing shape about 3 months ago over on brand x auction for $475 if that helps 0 -

Just to add my 2-cents, the fact that this rifle has a Lyman No. 5B Combination front sight and a Lyman No. 1A tang sight that are correct to the rifle adds at least $450 to the value. I agree with Kimi & Cartod... it is a $1,000 rifle on any given day. The other thing it has going for it, is that it is an early production "pre-War" manufactured rifle. 0
