Tracer Rounds?
I own a BA50 (50BMG) and was given 100 rounds of APIT rounds about three months ago. I havent put any through my gun because my friends say it will burn up my barrel. I dont shoot more than 15 rounds every time out at the range. And I dont need to shoot all tracers either, I have other standard API rounds. I called Bushmaster and they said if the gun is sent back for accuracy issues that are cause by tracer rounds they will not warranty the barrel. What do you guys think?

How does a tracer cause any more damage to a gun then any other round?
Last time I checked the tracing does not start till 50-100 yards from the barrel.0 -
The tracer starts burning the moment the gunpowder is ignited, it just doesn't become visible instantly, the tracer compound takes a half-second or so to reach full burn. The older tracers were hard on barrels but the newer ones are supposedly improved and don't cause problems. 0 -
No harm. Clean your barrel. Expect accuracy to be less- weight changes as tracer element burns. DO be VERY cautious about where you fire them- the Incendiary round burns VERY hot- and when Smokey the Bear finishes beating you with the shovel, he will give you the bill for starting the forest fire. We run THOUSANDS of rounds of APIT thru our .50 Brownings with no harm to barrels. 0 -
