collectable ammo?
Hey guys, I always like to check before using up some older ammo for the possibility that it has some collectable value. Though with ammo prices today I'm sure lots of that is becoming "shooter' stuff...

i recently came across some old 30-06 remington and western ammo in there boxes .for reference please look at gb auction #4776314,#4813261.what would a fair price be on this ammo ? i know knothing about ammo collecting ,thanks in advance ,keep on bangin boys ,don 0 -
I am no cartridge collector but I would think this would be worth more to a collector than it is to shoot. However with todays crazy ammo prices this may no longer be the case. If you shoot it I would definately save the box. If nothing else it would neat sitting on a shelf somewhere. 0 -
I have some nearly identical Winchester .30-06 in the blue and yellow boxes, in new condition, that was found by a neighbor in an old dresser in her basement. I had it on my table at 8 or 9 gun shows over the past six months, and the high offer on it was $10 per box. I stood on $12, with no takers. Rather than investing any more table space in it, I'll shoot it up. 0 -

Collectability (of anything) is driven by desirability, rarity, condition and the number of people that want that given item.
Sure, someone that's just getting into "box collecting" might be interested in your relitivly new & common box, but those guys are kind of thin on the ground, even in the world of cartridge collectors (and we arn't exactly a big segment of the collector world).
Shoot it, or mount it on the wall of your gunroom as a display item.
BTW, that box would be rated as "fair", at best.0 -
