mp40 whats it worth?

i have a mp 40 display gun along with the original box and the treasury papers from 1968. want like to sell on the auction but i dont know anything about this gun. anybody have any input on the gun or what it,s worth. thanks in advance. where sould i look for the numbers on the gun?

The main point concerning value is if the MP 40 is functional or a Dewat? If the amnesty papers from 1968 classify it as a functional submachine gun, your sitting on a gold mine. If the papers classify it as Dewat, it would still have substantial value depending mostly on it's external cosmetics, i.e. nothing from Joe's Bumper Shop that has holes drilled through the chamber then a stove bolt welded in with a acetalene torch, is going to be worth a lot of money. Please post quality photos.

If it an amnesty registered, transferrable gun, a few things will affect the value....

Is it live, or a dewat?

Is it a numbers matching gun?

Early production ? (slabside mag hsg/hook bolt handle) - they can command a premium.

If a live, matching gun, I'd venture to say 13-18K

Dewat......7-10K

I'd like to see the "original box" you mentioned though

I haven't seen one in years, never though they would bring that kind of money. If Hoosier is talking about the same kind of "parts kits"? It's a Japanese "non-gun", made of die-cast Zinc. Circa the 1960's.
