    Well ... it would depend on what kind of car ... what the condition of the car is, if it was a collectible or just an old rebuild.

    In today's political climate, most any working AR is going to be worth $500 or so

    I feel your pain. There are way too many variants of the Colt AR to answer your question properly. My advice, find the variant/model that has the features you want and then go to the auction side of this site and search "completed auctions" under the smart "search feature". Find out what people have been paying for the variant you like in similiar condition. That will truly be market value.
