    Here is my list using your criteria...

    1. Savage 116(Accurate as any and best bang for the buck IMO)
    2. Ruger M77 MK II Ultralight(Easy handling, light, love it)
    3. Any Remington 700(dependable, easy to work on)
    4. Tikka M695(I just like it better then the Tikka T3)
    5. Tikka T3(read above)
    6. Winchester M70 Featherweight(Best looking, but too expensive for me)
    7. Sako(a little nicer then a Tikka, but more too)
    8. Howa(good price, decent little rifle)
    9. Mossberg(A nice little budget rifle)
    10. Ruger M77 Hawkeye(Like, just not a lot of experience with yet)

    I have never cared for Browning, have never shot a Weatherby or Kimber, and Blaser is WAY out of my price range.

    None worth a darn. Go with a 300H&H in the Winchester Model 70. Pre 64 if you can find one. Then none of your Buddies will be bumming your shells!

    I was debating between the Remington and the Savage when I was buying my .300 WIn Mag.

    I ended up with an Armalite AR-30. It comes loaded for the same price it would have cost me to "upgrade" the Remington. It also came with a threaded barrel so I could use my suppressor.

    I got it about the time the really cold temps hit. Now within the next few weeks I can start giving it a work out as my shooting area dries out.

    Thanks Jon0322! That was exactly what I was looking for!

    Note: I changed the title of this topic to be Caliber Neutral so now everyone can share their opinions free of the great caliber debate and not have to worry about which caliber is better or how your hand loads blow away factory ammunition.

    I thought this might be a fun question which would spark debate about the actual rifles and why people like them.

    Ruger M77, never has disappointed me. Remington 700 had it seems for ever. Mossberg 4x4 just recently came across this, but on the 2 outings that I have used it I have been very pleased. And then there is my Weatherby, it can put a hole through an engine block.

    1. Savage-best accuracy right out of the box and you can adjust the trigger right down to where you want. One of my two most accurate rifles is a .223 in 12FV. Many a baby clover came from that rifle.

    2. CZ550/527-the set trigger is awesome and accuracy is great. Also, the models 700/750 varmint/sniper. Same action just hand tuned.

    3. Armalite AR-30. (Add-on) Mine was (yes, I sold it, needed cash) set up just like Nwcid's except I had the brake on it. It was tuned and clocked so that I could literally watch the bullet hit @ 300 yds. I shot several 1"-1.5" groups @ 300 yds. (Base cost is $1495 for .308)

    4. Winchester 70-CRPF best of both worlds. Positve grab on cases from the magazine or flop one on the feed tray if you want to single feed. My Stealth II is right up there with some other rifles I had accurized. Both my Stealth II and Coyote models are extremely accurate.

    5. Cooper (Add-on). The ones under $1500. They all shoot great and look good. They go on the mass manufacture/custom basis that is really a good niche to be in.

    6. Tikka T3 -very accurate for what you pay. The varmint/target models are very good as well. This is basically the stripped down version of Sako. Which are good, but spendy.

    7. Rem-700- dependably accurate enough and usually affordable. These used to be the best when it came to accuracy off the shelf. Now that everyone has gotten into doing what it takes to make a better rifle off the shelf they have dropped. But, I'd still buy one. They are the easiest to customize to super-accurate.

    8. Howa/Weatherby Vanguard. Up and coming name in the accuracy game. Look at the Axiom models.

    9. Browning makes some high quality, well designed rifles. But they are spendy. So they go down a ways on the list.

    10. Kimber made some really good ones and some not so good ones. Still they are good overall, but a little spendy

    11. The Weatherby Mark V isn't a great 'accuracy' gun. They do however, give you a ton of velocity with hunting accuracy.

    12. Mossberg/Marlin are still figuring out how to get into the bolt action game.

    N/A Blazer doesn't make a rifle under $1500

    prolly Sako for all around best feel/fit/finish/barrel/stock.

    Rem700 is my go-to rifle. If it isn't quite right, it costs enough less that I can take it to a gunsmith for full out blueprinting and still have well under $1500 in it. Their cheap stocks are better than most other company's cheap stocks, although I'd rather not have a junk stock at all.
