Mauser Butt Plate?
Wonder if anyone can help identify these.
I picked up 10 butt plates like the one shown here. I thought they were for the M96 but they are different. The 10 plates I picked up are the same general shape as the 96 but they are narrower and tapper more at the bottom. The seller said they were in an estate sale, in a box marked Mauser 98. Some are marked with a "N inside a square" by the upper stock bolt hole and with an "H inside a square" on the backside below the lower stock bolt hole. Others have no markings. Blue looks 90%, probably factory replacements.

In the photo, the plate on the left is a M96, the unknown plate is in the center and right. The M96 is 1.6" at it's widest point. The unknown is about 1.45" wide.
