94 take down
What's the secret to take down a 94? Don't you just pull the magazine rod and twist? or am I missing a step?

As gearheaddad indicates, open the lever enough that the bolt and extractors clear the breach; unscrew the magazine tube and pull it forward enough to make sure it clears the receiver; twist the barrel assembly 90 degrees and pull forward. 0 -
Old Colts,that is what I assumed,the same steps as a 97 shotgun. So I must have one that is just tight from lack of use. I"ll just apply some KROIL and just wait, thanks for the help. 0 -
When you get it apart; look at the face of the takedown ring where it mates to the receiver. If you can see distinct outward dimples on each side, there are two three adjusting screws if I remember correctly, that would tend to indicate that someone has adjusted the takedown mating friction. They may have overdone it and made it too tight. 0 -
Next question, with the forearm removed I see three screws going into the receiver, after taking one out they don't appear to be long enough to connect the two halves of the receiver, what are they for? 0 -
I guess I didn't remember correctly (three instead of two), those should be the takedown tension screws. The face of the takedown ring or flange is thin under the screws and to tighten the takedown function, when necessary, the screws are tightened and that will dimple the face of the takedown ring and create more friction or tension when the gun is put back together. 0 -
