Picked up and brought home a Colt pistol marked "AUTOMATIC COLT" caliber 38 rimless smokeless. Two patent dates Apr. 20th, 1897 and Sep. 9, 1902. Ser.#30xxx. Two clips. Again what do i have?

  My friend has what appears to be an early Colt Automatic, nickle finish, 380 cal.
  Serial # is 130xxx
  Can anyone help me out with its date of manufacture?
  Proofhouse doesn't list it. Thank you

  You register on the auction side. Take some sharp clear photos in daylight from a ladder with the gun on a solid background.
  Use a telephoto setting. List it for $590 opening bid and no reserve.

  very easy, just put it up on the auction side and you'll find interested parties.
  the 1903 and 1908 sell pretty well, but you wont get rich off it![;)]
  list the year of manufacture in the description, especially if its an early one or the last year.
  if you post a picture here some of us can give you an idea of what to expect price wise.

  At 60%, it's not collectible. But, it may still be a good "carry" gun for someone.
  
  If you want to list it on this site, you will need to describe the bore condition. Buyers will also want to know if it functions reliably. I would expect it to sell in the $200-300 range.

  Just enter the search box top right of GB home page .32 Colt Auto. You can then bring up all those now offered at auction. You will see how much people are bidding on them, how they describe them, good and bad pictures, etc.

  I believe MMEYERS is correct. 60% is defineately not collector grade, and I believe anything over $350 would be fair.
