Where is all the Ammo
I feel like I have been living under a rock! I bought new 38 for my wife recently and when I went to buy some ammo there literally wasn't any - the shelves were bare. Most of the web sites have one back-order listing after another except for the high $$$ rounds. Midway said that their next shipment was April 23 and 116 boxes for the ammo I was shopping were already on backorder. Also having a hard time finding 380 ammo.
What going on? Its like everyone is stocking up for some reason.
Can anyone shed any like light on whats going on?

After 11/4/08, everything has pretty much dried up. Even the cheap bulk ammo at Walmart. I have been hearing stories that folks with inside connections at Walmart, have been getting the word when ammo shipments are due. They then go in and buy everything they can get, by the case. You would think that Walmart would have have started to ration the ammo, rather then let just a couple people buy all they had by the case.
Same thing is happing at gunshows all the folks selling the popular bulk shooting ammo, can't keep it in stock. All thats available is individual boxes of the higher priced ammo.0 -
Bill; Obama, Obama, and Obama!!!!!! Everyone is afraid of the new liberal President, House, and Senate. Attorney General, Eric Holder, just announced today that he wants to reimpose the Clinton assualt weapon ban to help Mexico! The liberal leaders have mentioned sky high taxes on all ammo. I recently returned to hand loading, and finding supplies for reloading is the same as you are having finding factory ammo. A few of the experts are saying this ammo frenzy buying is un-necessary. You'll have to make your own decision, but I'm buying and reloading all I can! 0 -
Yup Yup, lots of price gouging going around too. Simple supply can't meet demand. I'm surprised the ammo manufacturers haven't raise their prices more. Business is good. Don't know about you guys, but I was buying a box or two of ammo every time I got some money, just so I could stock some up because I figure prices will just go up and up and up. 0 -
Every time I'm in a store I check to see if they have any food for any of mine children and get what I can. 0 -
Y2K syndrome - Remember that when everyone was buying food stocks because the computers wouldn't switch themselves over to the year 2000? Ridiculous...
You can't find ammo because people are buying it like crazy because they are afraid Obama is personally going to knock on their door and ask for their guns...
Just like the ultimate fear that Osama Bin Laden and his cave dwellers are going to come door to door killing everyone or was that Sadam Hussein? I get them mixed up... Well it's not important... Same Bush story, heck even he even started believing it...

You didn't buy thousands of gallons of gas because they said the supply was short did you?
Give it 6 months... ammo, guns and reloading supplies will be back on the shelves... And if they are not I will come buy it out of your garages cause I know you will have plenty...0 -
Can't argue with most of your points 43. But I feel it's more than just supply and demand or fear buying. I think that there is a good chance the gov will legislate restrictions or taxes on our purchases.

Who said let? What if Obama comes through with his 500% tax on ammo and reloading supplies? The man is a rabid Chicago anti-gunner. Reasonable people are taking reasonable precautions. Some folks are hoarding. Who is to say what is right and what is running scared? his record so far with MORE government does not instill a lot of confidence in the future.0 -
Too bad I didn't buy stock in the ammo industry. You're an idiot if you think Hussein won't make an attempt to halt our 2nd Amendment rights. There are several ways it's possible, not just by taking our guns. They've already tried to pass a lead-ban bill in my state. Again, just one of many ways to try and get at our rights. After the attorny general asked for a new rife ban, enough of the democrate stepped forward to anounce that they would not vote for the ban and closed any idea of a ban. The anounce is on the NRA web site and also was on Fox News this morning and I listened twice to make sure I got it right Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ban they really want to keep a majority!
People who want to keep the scare are trying to propetuate it to make money off peoples insecurities.
