If you take the Pachmayr off make sure you plug the holes and keep the screws for it together with the base. They aren't exactly common. One other problem I have with the Pachmayr is that it won't take a scope that has any of the elevation/windage adjustment hanging out of the left side. The left side of the scope has to be smooth. Which narrows my scope choice down to two old Weavers that I have.
