45 Colt/45Long Colt Brass???
Are they one and the same??

Yes, the brass is the same. The term"long colt" began in the 1870's due to the government's adoption of the S&W revolver in addition to the Colt. The S&W cylinder wasn't long enough to use the standard .45 Colt round so a shorter round (the .45S&W or Schofield)was issued. 0 -

They SHOULD be the same. However, many uninformed Government Model owners refer to their pistols/cartridges as a 45 Colt (or Colt 45), when they are more properly called 45 Auto or 45 ACP. Because of this you have to be careful when someone says "45 Colt", and is the reason I always use 45 Long Colt when discussing the 45 Colt to avoid any confusion.

I was a range officer back in Philly and watched in amusement as an old timer tried to load 45 Colt cartridges into a Colt 1911 magazine. I asked him what he was doing and he showed me the box of ammo marked 45 Colt and explained that these rounds would not go into his Colt 45 pistol! 0 -

I would slug the barrel and cylinder mouth dimensions, of the 45 Long Colt revolver your loading for. Some are way oversized as compared to the dimensions of the barrels chambered for 45 ACP. From my personal experience firing .451/.452 caliber bullets that are normally loaded in the .45 ACP cartridge, in one of these revolvers, has a very negative effect on accuracy.0 -
there is no such animal as the 45Long Colt it is the 45 Colt the 45 ACP is often refered to as the 45 Colt but in truth it is the 45ACP/Auto Colt Pistol 0
