Springfield Model 1922

I picked up one of these last weekend. The barrel is marked S.A. flaming bomb 7-22. The receiver is marked U.S., Springfield, Armory, Model of 1922, Cal. .22, 1012. The top of the bolt handle is marked W L with the number 3 below the letters. There are no other marks on the rifle or stock I can see. After making 2000 of the standard issue they made improved models M1 and M2. However they say many of the rifles were converted to the M1 and M2. Is there something somewhere on the rifle to indicate is was altered and if not then it is original? The next problem is they could not find the magazine to with it. I read the M1 and M2 magazine are not interchangable. Does the M1 magazine fit the unaltered standard issue rifle? Gun Parts has a reproduction magazine for M1 and M2. I will still look for an original magazine. Does anyone know the markings on the original magazine? Thanks for all your help.

    Hello The first models had TWO firing pins so if you fire a shell in yours and look at the case head you should see TWO firing pin dents.

    EDIT If you can find a copy of Clark S. Campbell' Book "THE '03 SPRINGFIELD" he has about 4 pages of information on these great rifles.
