    National Ordnance operated in El Monte, CA in the '60s & '70s. They imported guns & parts. They also manufactured receivers for 1903A3 & M1 rifles, & assembled them with surplus USGI parts. Quality is not good on any of their guns; I would not fire the M1 pictured.

    Eventually they morphed into Federal Ordnance, importing low quality stuff from China.

    They put out M1 Garands, Carbines and 1903 Springfiels rifles among others. Most of their rifles were made using investment cast receivers and varying amounts of GI surplus parts. They had very poor quality control and are generally considered to be crap. I have heard about incidents involving their 1903 and Garand receivers cracking and blowing up due to poor quality. Probably worth more as parts if most of them are GI.

    You can look at your rifle in many different ways, the rear sight looks like they are lock bar and according to first, second or third issue they could be worth as little as 125.00 and if they are Winchester 350.00 or more. The rifle in parts could be worth quite a bit of money if the rest of the rifle has prizes likt the sight. I agree with not firing it, a friend had one of their M14 clones and the magazine ejected under pressure when he was firing it.

    I used to buy some little parts at their store, and also Fed Ord.

    Had a friend that bought one of their Tanker Garands, built on their receiver. Took it to Gandad's Ranch. First shot, the receiver and breech exploded. Made my friend forever blind in his left eye.

    Your rifle would look great in a permanent mount over the mantle.
