Browning BAR .300 win. mag

Found a Browning BAR .300 Win. Mag for sale. It is in Great Shape, newer but I can't tell how new, one scrape by the swivel stud on the stock... The guy picked it up in a trade and hasn't shot it in the last 2 years. $600 yay or nay? If I bought it could I get more out of it than I paid?

Has been magna ported

Any opinion is appreciated!

    cant tell from pic but it looks like a safari. if it is as you described you are definitely not going to get hurt at a price like that but i dont think you would get more than that if you tried to trade it in at the local gun shop. I bought a new safari in 338 win mag a year ago at a small gun shop in the hills of TN he had had since 1997 for $759 and that was a great deal, but it was because he had absolutely no call for it. oh wait i didnt see the open sight i dont think safari grade ever came with open sights if it is a grade one it still would be a fair price if it is a grade two it would be a great price.

    I'm looking for investment rifles to turn around and sell, if this is a grade 1 MKII would it be worth the $600 or do you think I would be sitting on it a while?

    Provided condition is as stated it is worth that much but I dont think you will make a fortune trying to flip it right away. it will probably go up in value but they are the finest auto deer rifles ever in my opinion so buy it if you want to enjoy a great shooter and to pass it down. If you post serial number i can give you a date of manufacture. There are several BAR's on the auction side give them a look.

    I don't think it's a good price as an investment and a little high for a shooter.

    I bought a NIB .338 Safari II with B.O.S.S. about 4 years ago on GB for about $600 and retail price was about $950.

    If you get it for $600 it would outlast you as a shooter. They are the best hunting rifles you can find. I know - I have 3 of them.

    So there is no way you think I'd get $100 - $150 more out of it...

    Buy $600 sell $750 - $700? Maybe scope it?

    I have been looking at them for myself but I think I'd like a new Safari in .300 Win. Mag or there abouts...

    $600 is maybe ok as a retail purchase price but the BARs often sell in the $500 to $550 range. Definitely not a price you want to pay if you intend to resell. Just some friendly advice, unless you hold an FFL you might not want to advertise that you intend to buy to resell. Nothing wrong with selling part of your collection occasionally but if you're buying and selling to make money that sounds like a business. . . and requires an FFL. In the current political environment just something to think.
