Stag Arms 7L 6.8 SPC

I was debating picking up a Stag Arms 7L in 6.8SPC. Could anyone tell me about the Stag Arms rifles or the 6.8SPC round? I'd like to use it for things like hunting coyote, deer, bear, and pigs. Any advice is appreciated - thanks.

    Stag Arms makes a very good product. I have 2- 6.8 SPC AR's and I have a 3rd upper from CMMG on back order since Dec.6th of last year. It is a very accurate cartridge and is excellent on medium game. The problem is getting ammo. if you don't have any now your in deep sh_t. I talked to a Remington Rep last weekend and reamed him out over the ammo issue. They totally killed this round by announcing the Remington R15 in 30 Remington for next year. The 6.8 is based on the 30 Remington to begin with. Had Remington came out with a gun for it and actually came out with the ammo at the same time it might have made it, but they never promoted it until it was to late. Remember this cartridge was born on the idea that the armed forces in Iraq & Afganistan needed something with more punch to shoot through buildings. None of the big box Gander Mountains, Cabelas, Dicks Sporting Goods or the former Sportsmans Ware House even have a clue as to what a 6.8 even is. You will never see this at Walmart,K-Mart or any other mart for that matter. I went to one of the largest Reloading retailers in the Midwest and they never even heard of the 6.8. Silver State Armory sells brass for $61.00 a 100. They have adds in the Shotgun News and Gunlist advertising ammo for $13 something a box until you try and buy it on their website and the price shoots way up from there if it's available. Hornady has a load for it. Remington has a load for it as well as a few other manufacturers but their back ordered into the next century. Luckily I had 400 rounds of factory stuff and another 400 rounds of brass so I'm okay for the time being.
    The only good thing is that bullets in this caliber are fairly common, because it uses a 277 diameter bullet and there are probably not a lot of people reloading it due to the brass shortage. If you can get some ammo do that first then buy the gun. I know that sounds weired but what good is a gun if you can't buy ammo for it. Good luck
