Savage model 220
I have a Savage model 220 in 16 gauge. A model 219 in centerfire calibers 30-30 and 22 hornet was also made and look similar. Would a centerfire barrel from a 219 work on my 220? I have an opportunity to purchase a barrel but it is not available for me to test it in my gun

Are the various gauge barrels inter-changeable? In other words, will a 20 gauge barrel fit a gun which has a 16 gauge barrel,etc? 0 -

Even if the 219 rifle barrel fit and headspaced OK on your 220 shotgun, you would need to bush the 220's firing pin hole and install the smaller diameter rifle firing pin. Otherwise, it might rupture primers when fired. 0 -
I am not sure if the firing pin holes were different. Had several of these in shotgun and rifle and sold all but the .22 Hornet. There is some interchangeablity but they may require some fitting and the different model variations will probably not interchange at all 0 -
I have two Savage 219's, (both in 30-30) one of which is a set that has a matching 20 ga barrel and fore end. Tha same reciever and firing pin works just fine for both the rifle and shotgun.

219's were available with interchangeable shotgun barrels, but he's talking about the reverse matchup, fitting a rifle barrel to a 220 shotgun action. The part numbers for 219 and 220 firing pins are different, and are specifically listed as "rifle" or "shotgun" by Numrich.
Years ago, I adapted a 16 gauge 220 barrel from Numrich to a 219 Hornet, but it required quite a bit of hand fitting.0
