Chinese Tokarev Model TU-90 9mm

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to swap out the 9mm barrel and recoil spring and use the 7.62x25mm barrel and spring to make it shoot the 7.62x25 rounds.

I know the magazines are the same just the 9mm mags have a spacer in them to fit the shorter round.

    Yes you can swap out the barrel and mags. There are also 38 super barrels out there in small supplies.

    It takes a little more to convert if you want to be able to eject the longer 7,62 cartridge since the ejection port is too short and the ejector cut is too far forward. Trying to eject a loaded round will require taking the pistol apart.
    The ejector needs to be ground back from 7/16" from the bolt face to 1/4", the ejection port needs to be opened up forward from 1 3/32 to 1 7/32", buy a smaller diameter 7.62 barrel bushing as that barrel is smaller in diameter and the firing pin needs to be lengthened to 2.120 by hard welding to the back end.
    The reason for this is the Chinese cut 9mm pins down from original length to act as inertial or rebounding firing pins, the benefit being you could lower the hammer on a live round as in the 1911. The problem is that it's marginal with many primers and wont work with hard 7.72x25 military primers and +P 9mm NATO rounds.
    The work can be done with a Dremel. To duplicate the sharp corner on the ejector, use a cut off wheel.

    For what it is worth. Six or seven yrs ago I had a Tu-90, it came with both barrels. All the ones I new about did, all the ones the wholesaler had did. It was the selling feature for buying the guns.

    OK, the modifications I was citing refer to the 9mm mod 213.
    Check dimensions with those above and if yours equal my modified numbers then you're good to go.
    All you will need are barrel, bushing and 7.62 magazines.
    Do pull your slide and depress the firing pin flush with the slide.
    If the firing pin doesn't protrude from the breech face, it needs to be lengthened.

    Awesome,

    Thanks for the info. I'm gonna call the seller to see if it has both barrels with it. otherwise i will have to buy a parts 7.62 gun and swap the companents out.
    Hopefully i wiont have to do any dremel work. When I get more info i'll check back here.

    The Dremel work is easy but probably not needed on your model.
    Parts and barrel from Gunparts in NY, Marstar in Canada or from Mark Kubes in Florida.
