Question On 2nd Generation Colt 5.5"
Was shown a Colt SAA in As new Condition.
It is 5.5" with TOTALLY Blued Frame.
Serial# 36498SA
Question is: I was told by "somewhat" of a Colt expert, that
this particular SA was never made with blued frame, that it
originally would have been case colored and that it has been
redone and blued.

Pistol made in 1962 . Never say never when it comes to COLTS but especially with SAA pistols However standard pistols of this time were case hardened frames . It may be a custom shop gun or most likely a refinished pistol . You SHOULD be able with Close inspection of the roll stamps and around the holes for screw heads if it has been refinished . The only SURE way is a letter from colt. That will denote TYPE of finish. 0
