Barrel Threads

Quick question - I have a Mini 14 and would like to attach a muzzle brake. I really don't want to fiddle with slip ons or pins, the gun's very dependable but not much of a shooter accuracy wise so I don't want to spend alot of money on it. Can the barrel be threaded without removing the barrel? I'd plan on 1/2 X 28tpi, same as an AR 15.

  Just got in a few 6ppc Barrels rifle barrels and can't figure out the what they may go to. Heavy ! for Bench rest shooting.
  
  18 TPI, Threaded portion is 1" Long and diameter is 1.05
  
  Any Ideas Not for Remington?
