Savage synthetic stock ?

I have a .375 H&H Savage 116 rifle, with the flat rear reciever. I purchased a Pre-fit Hivix recoil pad for the Savage 110/116 synthetic stocked rifles. I know that even the prefit pads require some fitting, but this isn't even close. Not usuable actually. My question is, did Savage change the synthetic stock on their rifles anytime recently? Maybe at the same time they changed from the flat rear reciever to the round? And if so, where could I find a nice soft aftermarket recoil pad that would fit my older model Savage?
