Butler Creek barrel ?
I am thinking about buying a bull barrel (.920) for my 10/22 and the butler creek barrels are significantly cheaper than most of the other barrels I have seen. Do any of you guys have any experience with them? Are they good quality? My 10/22 is the wally world exclusive with the 22" stainless barrel and I am looking to increase its accuracy. I can't get it to group worth a flip with any ammo.

There are a multitude of variables that can contribute to the lack of accuracy from any rifle besides the barrel. In this case though, the barrel is the easiest part to change. It's unusual that you can't find any ammunition that will give you some degree of accuracy.
What ammunition have you tried and what type of accuracy are you looking to achieve?
Ruger 10/22s are blessed with a huge selection of aftermarket parts including barrels from nearly every barrel maker ranging from cheap to the very best custom and competition barrels. Butler Creek fills the niche at the bottom of the list for the vast majority of folks who want the look of a target barrel without paying the price for a decent one. These barrels are mass produced with the intent of making something for the absolute least cost to the manufacturer without concern for consistent accuracy. You're buying a look not accuracy. This is not to say that some of the barrels can't be accurate because some I've shot have been O.K. But rarely will you be able to achieve any high degree of accuracy from the least expensive barrels.

In reality, it's nononsense which is the opposite of your suggestion.
Is the barrel band still in place? This can be part of the problem right off the bat.
Did you do all of the alterations to your rifle? If yes, I will make two suggestions:
Take the rifle to a gunsmith to see if the action and bolt are actually worth putting more money into. These parts can be so badly manufactured and assembled in a few situations that they are hard to get anything to shoot with any degree of accuracy. These parts are often misaligned as well as there being a misalignment between the chamber and the barrel bore.
The gunsmith should also check the crown and the scope mounts before taking everything apart to see how the barreled action fits into the stock. Sometimes it's not as easy or simple as slapping in a new barrel so check these things out before spending more money and being disappointed again.
The difference between an inexpensive barrel and a well made barrel is the consistency and repeatability. You'll always be taking a chance on getting a decent barrel from the low end makers while there is little if any chance when buying from a maker known for quality. If you like to take chances, buy cheap.

i have had very good accuracy from the adams & bennet barrels from midway. all of the very accurate barrels will have small target chambers. you will have to shoot good quality ammo in them. some of the cheaper bulk pack .22 ammo will slam fire in these guns. 0 -
hey nonsense i have used everything from bulk fed and rem to the premium high vel like mini mags and yellow jackets. Then went to standard vel from the big three. Even tried a buddies eley and it was no better than the standard vel from rem and others. of course some grouped better than other but not like they should. i am looking to get at least 1 1/2" at 50 yrds right now its 2 1/2 with best ammo (very bad) 0 -

Yes, that's very bad. I get under an inch (still not great) easily with my butler creek barrel (the carbon fiber bull barrel) and cci standard velocity, but also have a decent scope mounted well, plus a trigger job (mostly volquartsen stuff inside). Others I have seen get under half inch at 50, with BC fluted stainless, better scope (leupold) lighter trigger, and CCI Mini-mag.0 -
I have a volq. trigger group, and many other upgrades from them also a fairly nice scope so I think i have eliminated most of the human error from accuracy which is why im lookin at barrel replacement. I am very disappointed with accuracy I dont know if around 2 inches at 50 yrds is normal from factory barrel but that is enough off to affect my tree rat hunting. 0 -
sorry for the misspell no pun intended. it does not have the barrel band it is the rifle version not carbine. I guess i could get my smith to recrown it but I really just wanted the opinion of people who have owned a butler creek barrel as to how accurate the are as i asked. 0
