8mm Mauser Ammo Identification
A friend of mine just called from a gunshow and he bought me 8 16rd boxes of 8mm ammo. He was told that it is Yugoslavian ammo. I asked him what the headstamp was and he says that it has a star at the 9 and 3 O'clock positions with an 11 at 12 O'clock and a 52 at 6 O'clock. Am I correct in assuming that this ammo was made in 1952? Can anyone tell me if it is indeed Yugoslavian and if it is corrossive? He got it for .25 a round. Thank you.

Sure sounds like yugo. Brass case, red primer sealant. Yes it is corrosive. Not a bad price these days; after shipping probably slightly lower than what AIM has it for (or had it recently, haven't checked in a few weeks)
One caveat though, the yugo I've seen has all been in 15, not 16 round boxes.0 -
Thank you, Jonk. Yes it does have red primer sealant as well. I thought 16rd boxes sounded weird. I bet they are 15rds. 0
