Ruger 22 pistol Red Eagle questions
Looking for some Ruger Red Eagle/Standard Model gurus here.
I happened upon a very low serial number (under 2400) Red Eagle the other day. I was able to get a fair amount of info about it but still have a couple unanswered questions. I gather it's a first run 1949 model, and I found some other pics of other low serial pistols (not as low as this one), but they all look different from this one.
First, the screw holes on the grips have aluminum inserts, all the other ones I've seen have no inserts, just black rubber/plastic. The grips appear to be factory.
The second noticeable feature is the main spring in the bolt. It's not a one piece "T" shaped spring and rod unit, it's a two-piece spring and rod seperate pieces. Again, it appears to be factory original.
The last difference is this copy has an adjustable trigger, w/ a small cap screw covering it on front of trigger guard. I was told adjustable triggers were never available on this pistol, but it looks factory to me, not like a gunsmithed add-on.
I can find no examples of this very early model. Are these differences all unique to the first run in 1949?

Do check out the Ruger Forum, but post pics here as well, if possible. How much is being asked for this pistol? Sounds like it may well have some aftermarket parts and not be "all original" but unless the price is really high it should be a great piece to have.0 -

The first Ruger 22 auto pistols had aluminum inserts in the grips and screws with smaller heads.I recently sold a set of the grips on the Ruger Forum site.The aluminum inserts were dropped as a cost saving measure.
