Primers/Powder For Sale On GB
I'm thinking of listing some primers, maybe some powder on GB. I know companies such as Midwayusa have to charge a hazardous materials fee. If I sell some primers/powder on GB can I simply ship what I have sold or are there catches?? Is it a don't ask don't tell or could I get myself jammed up? If there are all kind of catches maybe this isn't a good idea.

Hazard fee required. You can't try don't ask don't tell unless you lie since you have to declare contents at ups and usps asks if hazardous. what have you got to lose and how much would you like bubba as your cell mate with all the benefits 0 -

trust me on this, i mentioned i had a 10 lb. container of powder i wanted to sell i only asked $100.00 for it and got many replies, so i went the legal way of shipping it.., to cut a very long story short (3 weeks of telephone hell) it would cost thru legal channels over $500.00 to send it anywhere.., so, i still have that 10 lbs of powder i can not use.., maybe mix it with pie dough and use it for fire starters [:D] [:D] 0 -

This is not the type of product that lends itself to being sold by private individuals on the Auction side, IMO. The private shippers, UPS and Fed-X, who are the only resource for moving these products, have instituted these Draconian fees in order to make us responsible for their ineptitude. But without running afoul of the intertwined laws, we are forced to go along with their agenda.
Two suggestions:
Check with one of our members EOD Guy who has a handle on the rules and regulations for these products to see if there is an alternative.
Round up all of these products that you have and take them to the local club or range to see if anyone wants to buy them outright. See if they have a 'swap day' that you could participate in. If they don't, maybe suggest it or organize one yourself with the cooperation of the range or club. Check with your buddies to see if they want to trade or buy but keep the transaction local and convenient.

One other option is to list as local pick-up only. As scarce as many primers and powder are you could still get a good amount of intrest. It also seems on the auction side, that people are paying the hazmat fee for quantities sufficient to spread the cost per item out.

I don't see how it would cost $500 to ship. Maybe $15 for shipping and a $20 hazmat fee. I've done it once or twice on stuff I no longer needed. 0 -
For anyone that wants to ship powder or primers-
1. It IS HAZMAT
2. Play "Don't ask, don't tell" and the folks at DOT/TSA will whack you with a $50,000 fine
3. Go to the UPS Website, search HAZMAT. Read the whole thing. View the tutorial. No, you can't drop it off at the UPS store. Do you have the software that is required to generate the shipping documents?- very specific. As is packaging/ labelling.
After doing all that, as they say in Brooklyn- "Fugedaboudit"0 -
Look for gun shows in your area. Sell it outright. 0
