Good afternoon gentlemen. This is my first post , but I've been reading yours for a long time and have learned an incredible amount. Thank you for that. I have the opportunity to purchase an H&R model 949, 22lr revolver. The gun is in overall very good condition, and I am ok with the asking price,but I know nothing about it's history or reputation. Any help or addvice would be greatly appreciated.

    Bill Goforth is the go to man on Iver Johnson and Harrington and Richardson hand guns.

    I had one, but found the fit and finish not up to say Ruger standards. It tended to misfire about 1 in three. Instead of repairing it, I sold it.

    I've got a Forty Niner and think they're a pretty quality piece. Way smoother than a Single Six and they'll shoot DA too. Compared to a Heritage there really is no comparison. Prices have been going up rediculously fast on them too. Seems everybody wants a nine shooter. X
