Colt 380 Mustang plus 2

I in herited this gun so I dont know anything about it. I have a Glock so I am not familiar with this external hammer, and I think it has a decocking lever? 1.My question is what is the best way to carry this thing concealed? I plan on cycling a round into the chamber. 2. Then do I decock it, or leave the hammer back and use the decock as a saftey, that dont look right, also - if it is in the decocked position. it is off of the firing pin, but when I pull the trigger the hammer will drop to the firing pin,is that normal? 3.is that enough to fire it or do you have to pull the hammer all the way back again ?4. I hope I havent confused you all. That is about 4 different questions. Thanks

    I feel old, a. there is a manual safty (not a decocking lever), hammer back and safty on is condition '2'; b. there is a '1/2' cock notch, this is in case your thumb slips while cocking the hammer. if you pull the trigger in this position the hammer should not fall.; c. hammer in full 'down postion' resting on f.p., it should not touch the primer (the firing pin is a rebounding type). if you think you might need the gun i'd carry in condition '2' condition '1' is round chambered safty off (when you expect thinks to go from bad to worst real fast).

    You need to download a copy of the instructions for the Mustang from the Colt website. You should read it & make sure you thoroughly understand the function of your pistol before you even load it.

    That speaks well of you.

    Don't load the weapon until you have gone through some dry-firing drills, and are very familiar with its' firing characteristics.

    Every time you have even the slightest question, come here, 24/7, and someone will be very happy to walk you through it.

    The only resemblance that your new firearm bears to your Glock, is that bullets come out.

    Any Colt model 1911 (which yours is) is designed to be carried with a round in the chamber, hammer at full cock, with the manual safety on. This looks scarry to some, but this really is the best way to carry. Many holsters are designed to have a thumb strap between the firing pin and cocked hammer, if this makes you feel more comfortable.
