M14 What is it worth ?

I have a M14 that was built from a Garand receiver (springfield armory approx 1943). Gun has a walnut stock and is all TRW GI parts.
Gun is in fantastic shape.

    I'm sure you have searched them on this website. GB is probably the best source for fair market prices.

    The price is way up on M14's right now. Do you wish to part with it or you just want to know what it's worth?

    You can aways list it w/ a very high reserve and see what it goes up to, this would be a real time evaluation of the guns worth.[;)]

    I'd say we were all right. It is an M1 rifle that has been altered to accept an M14 box magazine. The stock is a USGI M14 stock & the rear sight is National Match. It may have SOME TRW parts, but I haven't seen any photos of them.

    Whoa! Joe was right, there was a lot more to see. Looks like the fella whose name is on the side of the receiver is the one who did the conversion, & it looks like he installed a complete M14 front end on the rifle. So, I guess it really IS an M-14 clone.

    EDIT: One thing is certain: the receiver started life as an M1 rifle receiver. Yes, it's been modified, but it is still an M1 receiver. Beretta made the BM59, but they used only new receivers they made themselves on old Winchester equipment. 280's rifle is a "M14-clone" or an "M14-type" rifle, but NOT an "M1A"; the name "M1A" is copyrighted by Springfield Armory Inc for their "M14-clone" rifle.

    There are a few M14 semi auto M14 clones built using garand receivers. If you want to sell it you would probably get less out of than one that was built at the factory. The TRW parts would help up the price some.

    if it is what you say it was someones mag conversion i have seen these a few times

    Please take the stock off and let us see the underside of the receiver. That's the part that interests us, as the top is unaltered, and we all know what Garands look like. Thanks, Joe

    look at the bolt lock back latch closely. it looks as if its marked BM59.
    and you all keep calling it an M14. its an M1A. a garand receiver doesnt have the full auto channel cut out in the receiver.

    beretta did a lot of those conversions with their BM62's and 59's.
