CZ52 Problems.....
I just recently purchased a CZ 52 and took it out today and put 70 rounds through it. The problem I was having was with the hammer, after almost every shot the hammer would be in the de-cock position or when it wasn't when you pulled the trigger it would drop but not fire(every once in awhile I'd get 2 or 3 rounds to go back to back). After manually pulling the hammer back it would fire every time. Does anyone know what could be causing this? And how to fix it??
I'm not sure if it is an ammo issue or not so here's what info I have on the ammo I was shooting:
Stamped on case:
1986 nny
The box was marked:
7,62 mm TT METAK
ZA PISTOLJ I AUTOMAT
PPU 8603
Barut: NC-03
MBL 8686

Either sear, sear spring, disconnector binding or disconnector spring.
Remove the slide and shoot some Remoil oil in the frame so as to lube the hammer, disconnector and sear. Lube the disconnector from the top. Assemble and cycle it a bunch of times with the trigger depressed, letting the slide slam.
If the hammer falls, the gun needs to come apart to be examined.
PS the Tokarev wont give you that kind of problem.0 -

OK so I'm going to clean the hell out of it and lube it real well then reassemble it hold the trigger down and let the slide slam repetedly (QUESTION: Won't the hammer fall automatically with the trigger held down?)and assuming the hammer doesn't fall it just needed a clean and a lube and i'm ok??0 -
"QUESTION: Won't the hammer fall automatically with the trigger held down?)"......NO, THAT IS WHAT THE 'DISCONNECTOR' IS FOR; YOU SHOULD HAVE TO RELEASE THE TRIGGER AFTER EACH SHOT FOR IT TO RESET. 0 -
OK, thanks. So if the hammer doesn't fall I'm good to go. And there is no way its a ammo issue?? Is it normal for the cartridges to be thrown in excess of 30 feet and still pack a good punch at the distance? 0 -

See that makes me wonder if there isn't something up with the ammo. I mean they are hauling ass out of the chamber and hurt when they hit you 20 or 30 feet away. 0 -
Buy some Wolf ammo. Some of the Mil ammo has hard primers (for open bolt sub guns). The Bulgarian ammo, from the 1950's, is really bad (duds). 0 -

I don't know if the ammo can be causing your action issues.
But you should know that some of the cheap milsurp Tokarev ammo is really meant for submachine guns and is hotter than what ought to be run from a pistol.
While the CZ-52 is built like a tank, and its roller action is pretty strong (eg it was originally intended for submachine guns). So while this ammo *probably* won't blow up your gun, that can't be good for it, and this might explain the hard tossing of empties.
Supposedly the subgun ammo CAN blow up (or severely damage) Tokarevs, though, so watch out!
I'd suggest trying some different ammo and seeing what happens.0 -
If it is throwing too far it might be ultra hot ammo or weak recoil springs. Might want to throw a new recoil spring in it. 0 -
I know about the ppsh ammo being hot and all that. How can you tell the difference though?
I cleaned it real good and cycled it and the hammer never fell so I'll open the spam can I just got and see if its any different. I noticed the ammo I was shooting had red paint around the primers and it is everywhere inside the gun, it was a pain to get out0
