winchester 1886 saddle ring carbine

Hi. I know you need photos will try to get them on next week. Have friend who has a 1886 winchester saddle ring carbine he wants to sell. Has been in family since the thirties,there is a lot to the story but i wont get into all that. his grandfather recieved the gun with two boxes of ammo shot those decided the ammo was to expensive and wraped it iu\n ablanket and put in in a closet. I am no expert but i would rate this 90-95 percent it does have a few dings in stock.It is 40-65 cal.we are going to put it on the auction side in a couple of weeks would like to get a idea of value so we can set a reasonable reserve because he does want to sell it but recieve a fair price thank you for youre help . I have learend a lot from you guys.

    Suggest you sent the opening price at the minimum you can take, and NO reserve. Lots of folks will not bid in auctions with hidden reserves.

    Do not worry about any older Winchester selling on this SITE for a fair price UNLESS you place this item WITH a reserve. Many of the heavy hitters will never even look at a reserve auction because they go on by the auto relist function for months if not years and are felt to be a WASTE of time to look at them.

    Hello Tim,

    Post or send me the pictures when you get the chance. I can give you a reasonably close idea of what the starting bid should be. Like the other fellows suggested, setting a "Reserve" is not viewed positively by many of the serious Winchester collectors. The best bet is to set the opening bid at a price that is reasonable to all parties.
