whats wrong with a trooper....

or a diamond back or king cobra or even an Anaconda for that matter. Pythons are so special I guess they are just better built or ???
the trooper looks like they just sort of skimped on the details the king cobras I have seem really nice they have the bright stainless finish and the trigger feels as good as my pythons. My Anaconda feels great to (better than the model 29), so whats the real difference

    I don't think you will hear anybody complain about a Diamondback. They are pretty much a python in the calibers that they didn't make pythons in. I know they made Pythons in 38 but very few. I think the reason for this was the Diamondback? You often hear the Diamondback refered to as a baby Python.

    Main difference is the level of hand fitting and finish work in the Python. Are they worth the extra bucks? My 586 matches my Python for accuracy and my GP100 will outlast them both.

    Pride of ownership. Same as Rolex when a Casio is just as accurate

    The Python is a great gun, but I really like the feel of my 40+ year old S&W Model 27. Guess it comes down to individual taste.

    The difference is that the Python has the superior finish, and has had all the parts hand-tuned.

    Its a top of the line revolver, that simple, plus the fact that they aren't made any more (nor likely ever will) had added to the mystique and cost.

    Depends on which Trooper you're looking at. The OM Trooper, made from 1953 to 1969, had the same action as the Python. The newer Mk III did not. Of course the finish on the OM Trooper and Python were a bit different, the Pyhton being better polished. But every OM Trooper I've owned or handled had an excellent and well finished action. If it didn't equal the Python's action it came very, very close.
