German Ortgies grip safety
I have a German Ortigies .32ACP pistol that the grip safety sticks in the closed position. I have read the disassembly and reassembly instructions and there isn't any mention of what pushes the grip safety back into the safe position. Parts breakdown doesn't show anything in the grip area either. What can I do to fix this problem as this is unsafe to say the least. Thank you.

From my .25 caliber Ortgies: On the left side of the pistol above and to the rear of the grip slabs is a button. Pressing in that button should release the safety lever and pop it back into raised position. Around the shaft running through the frame from that button is a coiled spring which engages at the to of the safety lever and holds it in. Pressing the button releases it. 0 -
The firing pin spring does double duty pushing out the gripstrap safety. Once I had an Ortgies that was binding at the back of the frame due to corrosion. If your firing pin spring is okay, there isn't much else to go wrong. I have seen Bubba glue the grips on the frame and some glue seep into the safety channel so that is worth looking for.
The Ortgies is a very good pocket pistol, even today, but it is a puzzle pistol and you have to know exactly how it works or you can damage it.0 -

Hey, glad it did not require any parts hunting or repairs. These little pocket pistols were somewhat ahead of their time. 0
