Read ATF 478.11 on Two Residences

Golferboy said I was wrong about Washington State Residents in an earlier locked topic. The post had to do with folks with two homes in different states. From the Manual online page 39:

Example 2. A is a U.S. citizen and
maintains a home in State X and a home
in State Y. A resides in State X except for
weekends or the summer months of the
year and in State Y for the weekends or
the summer months of the year. During
the time that A actually resides in State X,
A is a resident of State X, and during the
time that A actually resides in State Y, A is
a resident of State Y.

    But, I believe, that you would have to have a driver's license from both States to buy handguns in both. No FFL gonna sell you a handgun with an out of state license.

    Howabout something that establishes RESIDENCE? Voter registration card, utilty bills, property tax bills, etc etc.

    Not uncommon for US Military to have more than one State of Residence. Established by military ID, and copy of orders. When stationed at Ft Benning, had 3- Virginia (home of record, voting, drivers license) and Georgia and Alabama (Ft Benning is in both states- laps over the line into Alabama)

    I have no idea. Any of you FFLs wanna answer that one. Always get asked for my driver's license. What other forms of ID (besides the CCW permit) could you use at a gun shop, pawn shop, etc?

    it has to be a photo id, first of all.

    second i believe ffls can do the transfer, there is a place on the 4473's to establish proof of residence, a complete list of acceptable documents can be found on the 4473s in the printed instructions.
