Over Under barrel selector ?

I just got a SKB 20ga O/U with a single trigger. It will be used mostly for Dove and some Skeet. Does it make any difference which barrel fires first or is it just a personal preference. Thanks

    I have an older model SKB 600 20 gauge. The barrel selector switch is the brass button on the trigger mechanism. I cant tell right now which direction controls what barrel, but test it and see! Some people prefer the upper barrel first, some the lower. Hope this helps.

    Shoot the lower barrel first. Helps with the recoil and follow up 2nd shot.

    Lower first in skeet.

    Usually fire lower barrel first, with more open choke. Then upper barrel with a tighter choke. Reason being, your target is usually closer on the first shot, second shot throws a tighter pattern for longer shot.

    Thanks for the Info. The selector was set to fire the lower bbl first (button protruding to the right) when I got it. I'll leave it alone.

    It would depend on how the gun was choked and the situation.

    Typically, on a skeet gun, it is choked skeet and skeet and the lower barrel is fired first because the barrel rise is less due to the barrel being lower.

    If the lower choke is more open, then it would also make sense to fire the lower barrel first if the game was going away and then you would have a shot with a tighter choke to follow up.

    proper order to fire two chokes is to shoot the most open first, and thenthe tighter. the target is moving away from you, thus you need the swarm to hold together longer to make it to the target intact.
    reverse is only if a bird is coming at you. then you shoot tight first, and open second...so youll have a bird left looking like a bird when it hits it.[;)]
