shipping an M2HB barrel from Canada to the States

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've got a 50cal
M2HB barrel that I bought a number of years ago for a project that
will never happen.I think my chances of selling it in Canada are nil
so I was going to put it up for auction on Gun Broker. I know there
are restrictions on shipping 50 cal parts out of the States but are
there restrictions about shipping them in? Who would I get in touch
with to get a definitive answer? Is there also some site out there
to let me know what all the markings and numbers on the barrel mean?

    Welcome to the Gunbroker Forums!

    I'm not an expert on shipping restrictions especially concerning Canada. The rules and restrictions change on what seems like a daily basis depending on which official gets offended first.

    My suggestion is to contact the Canadian Firearms Center:

    http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/factsheets/default_e.asp

    They have some FAQs pages with information but they suggest that folks with specific questions call them.

    Importation of firearms & related items is determined by the ATF (US Dept of Treasury, Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives).

    Go to the ATF website & download ATF P 5300.4; read Title 27 CFR Chapter II (page 102 ff). That explains everything; if you understand it, you are smarter than I am. As noted above, changes occur daily.

    The bottom line is, your buyer has to know it is legal for him to import it before he bids, something that is unlikely to happen.
