H&K Conversions
I am considering buying a UMP 45 cal. to convert to a ump/usc/sbr with a 3 position navy lower. These are available on auction site for around $4000. What can I expect to pay for the base conversion with "german" parts and/or would I be better off buying a pre-converted unit?? Also who are some of the "Pro's" good at this? I would like to end up with a unit that could be civilion lis. but could be legally converted later and re-lisenced as full auto.

You are loooking at the wrong place, for the wrong thing. It is after 1986, and there is no way you will be able to legally register a full auto. Not um;ess the UMP takes the sear pack from the g3 group, then you could buy a registered transferrable sear pack for about 20K.

If this is the case--what good is the multi position selector switch--other than it "looks cool"0 -
You can get a conversion done for about $2200.
You will pay a $200 tax to SBR it.
It will be SemiAutomatic only.
The third position will only be for looks.

Like the other posted stated there are no legal full auto USC conversions. If it were legal then you could just buy a real UMP for less money. If it was not a full auto AND registered with the ATF by 1986 it is not legal for private sale.0
